【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversthestandardsandproceduresforthepulse-echoultrasonicexaminationofheat-treatedcarbon,low-alloy,andmartensiticstainlesssteelcastingsbythelongitudinal-beamtechnique.1.2Thispracticeistobeusedwhenevertheinquiry,contract,order,orspecificationstatesthatcastingsaretobesubjectedtoultrasonicexaminationinaccordancewithPracticeA609/A609M.1.3Thispracticecontainstwoproceduresforultrasonicinspectionofcarbon,low-alloy,andmartensiticstainlesssteelcastings;thatis,ProcedureAandProcedureB.ProcedureAistheoriginalA609/A609Mpracticeandrequirescalibrationusingaseriesoftestblockscontainingflatbottomedholes.Italsoprovidessupplementaryrequirementsforanglebeamtesting.ProcedureBrequirescalibrationusingabackwallreflectionfromaseriesofsolidcalibrationblocks.Note1-Ultrasonicexaminationandradiographyarenotdirectlycomparable.ThisexaminationtechniqueisintendedtocomplementGuideE94inthedetectionofdiscontinuities.1.4Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundunitsorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetext,theSIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththispractice.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
